Music

How do I add music on Android?

Open a workout, go to the Music tab and tap Add Music Files. Choose one or more MP3 files from your phone; you can select several at once.

TrainBeat copies the files into the app, so they keep working even if you move the originals. They use storage space on your phone and are removed if you uninstall the app.

Can I link a whole music folder?

Not in the Android app. Add the files instead: picking many files at once does the same job, but songs you later put in that folder are not added automatically.

What is the difference between music in TrainBeat and a music app like Spotify?

Music you add to TrainBeat is controlled by the timer: it fades out when you pause, resumes from the same spot and can follow your playlist order.

A separate music app plays on its own. You can run it alongside TrainBeat and still hear the beeps and voice countdown, but pausing the workout will not pause that app.

Which audio formats work?

MP3. Other formats are reported as not supported when you add them.

Why does the music stop when I pause?

That is the Sync setting. In the Music tab you can choose Continue, which keeps music playing during a pause, or Manual, where you start and stop music yourself.

Countdown voice

Why do I only hear beeps and no voice?

TrainBeat speaks with the text-to-speech voices installed on your device. If there is no voice for the language you chose, you hear beeps only.

Use Test Voice in Workout > Sound Settings to check the selected language.

How do I install a voice on Android?

Open Settings > System > Languages & input > Text-to-speech output (on Samsung: Settings > General management > Text-to-speech).

Choose Speech Services by Google as the preferred engine; install it from Google Play if it is missing.

Tap the gear next to the engine, choose Install voice data and download your language. Then tap Test Voice in TrainBeat.

Menu names differ between phone makers and Android versions.

How do I add a voice on a computer?

Windows: Settings > Time & language > Speech > Add voices, then restart the browser. Mac: System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > System voice > Manage Voices.

Saving and backups

How do I back up my workouts?

Open Settings on the start screen and tap Export Workouts. On Android a share sheet opens, so you can save the file to Google Drive, Files or email. The file is in JSON format.

How do I restore a workout from a file?

In Settings tap Import Workouts (Pro) or Restore a Workout (Free) and choose the file.

Free keeps one saved workout: if the file contains several, you pick the one to restore, and TrainBeat asks before it replaces your current workout. If the file cannot be read, nothing is changed.

What happens to my workouts if I uninstall the app or change phones?

Updating the app keeps your data. Uninstalling it deletes everything stored on the phone: workouts, settings and music.

Android may restore an older automatic backup when you reinstall or set up a new phone, but this depends on your phone’s backup settings and is not guaranteed. The reliable way is to export your workouts to a file and keep it somewhere safe.

Does buying Pro restore my workouts on a new phone?

Pro is restored by your Google account. Your workouts are not: they live on the device, so use export and restore to move them.

Troubleshooting

The screen turns off during a workout

TrainBeat keeps the screen on while the timer runs. If it still turns off, check whether a battery saver mode is limiting apps, and keep TrainBeat open in the foreground.

Something looks wrong after an update

Note the version shown at the bottom of Settings and contact us through the support page with a short description and, if possible, a screenshot.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No. There are no accounts, and the timer works offline. Installing voices or apps from Google Play needs a connection.
